Platforms built
to scale

Platform engineering for products that have to grow: architecture, APIs, data and infrastructure designed for the tenth customer and the ten-thousandth.

A platform is what a product becomes when more than one thing depends on it. It has to be built that way from the start.

We design and build the systems under the product: service architecture, data models, APIs, authentication, billing and the infrastructure that runs them. Boring where boring is right, with the few hard decisions made deliberately and documented, so the team that inherits it can keep moving.

For products that more than one thing now depends on.

Scale-ups whose first architecture is straining, businesses opening their systems to partners through APIs, and companies replacing a legacy platform without stopping the business that runs on it.

What a platform engagement covers

  1. Architecture

Service boundaries, data ownership, synchronous and asynchronous flows and the trade-offs behind each choice, written down before the first commit.

  2. APIs and integrations

Versioned, documented APIs for your own products and for partners, plus the integrations your business already depends on.

  3. Data and infrastructure

Schemas, migrations, caching, queues and cloud infrastructure as code, with observability built in from day one.

  4. Security and operations

Authentication, permissions, audit trails, backups and the runbooks that let someone else operate it at three in the morning.

How we work

  1. Assess

What exists, where it strains and what the next two years of the product will ask of it.

  2. Design

Architecture and data model, reviewed with your engineers, with the migration path if there is a legacy system.

  3. Build

In vertical slices that ship, with tests, observability and infrastructure as code from the first one.

  4. Operate and hand over

Documentation, runbooks and a period of shared operation before your team takes it fully.

What we believe about platforms

Boring where boring is right

Proven tools, plain patterns and a few deliberate hard decisions beat novelty. Novelty is a cost someone pays at three in the morning.

Write the decision down

Every architectural choice has a reason and a trade-off. Both are recorded, so the next engineer argues with the reasoning, not the rubble.

Observable from day one

If you cannot see what the system is doing, you cannot run it. Logs, metrics and traces ship with the first slice, not after the first incident.

What you walk away with

  • Architecture that absorbs growth instead of fighting it
  • APIs partners can build on without calling you
  • Infrastructure defined in code and observable from day one
  • Documentation and runbooks your own team can operate from

Questions we are asked about platforms

What stack do you build on?

TypeScript and Node on the server, Postgres for data, Next.js or React for interfaces, deployed on Vercel, AWS or Google Cloud depending on your needs and existing contracts.

Can you take over an existing codebase?

Yes. We start with an assessment, fix what is risky first and improve the rest incrementally. A rewrite is a last resort, not a first proposal.

Do you work with our engineering team?

Ideally, yes. Shared pull requests, shared standards and a handover plan agreed at the start, so knowledge stays with you.

How do you handle security and compliance?

Least-privilege access, encrypted data at rest and in transit, audit logging and reviews against the standards your sector requires. We will tell you where you need a specialist auditor.
